In what should be a significant move for the Delaware online gaming market, Rush Street Interactive’s (RSI) BetRivers platform has launched live-dealer online casino gaming in the state. This marks the first time Delaware residents can experience live-dealer games at online casinos. The move comes through a strategic partnership with Evolution, a leading live casino provider.
Evolution’s suite of games is now available across all three of Delaware’s online casinos. All three, Delaware Park Casino, Bally’s Dover Casino Resort, and Harrington Raceway & Casino, utilize the BetRivers platform.
The state has already seen a surge in online gambling activity since RSI took over operations in December 2023. The wider variety of games and the immersive nature of live-dealer experiences are likely to continue that growth, attracting new players and encouraging existing ones to spend more time and money on the platforms.
Players in Delaware can now enjoy a range of live-dealer games including roulette, blackjack, baccarat, craps, and varieties of house-banked poker. These games are streamed in real-time from professional studios, offering players an immersive and interactive gaming experience that approximates the ambiance of physical casinos.
BetRivers keeps control of Delaware
There has been an effort to eliminate the exclusivity BetRivers enjoys in Delaware. However, that exclusivity is safe for at least another year.
The Delaware legislative session ended last weekend without passing a bill that would have expanded the state’s sports betting options. This means that BetRivers, which currently operates as the sole online sports betting provider in Delaware through its partnership with the Delaware Lottery, will continue to hold exclusive rights for at least another year.
Efforts to introduce more competition into the market were centered around HB 365, sponsored by Rep. Frank Cooke. This proposed bill sought to authorize each of Delaware’s three casinos to offer two additional online sports betting “skins,” potentially allowing up to seven sports betting operators in the state.
Evolution continues U.S. growth
Evolution’s entry into the Delaware market is part of its broader expansion strategy in the U.S. Several other states, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, have already seen success with live-dealer offerings.
The company has rapidly grown its presence in the country, and Delaware marks its sixth market. The partnership with RSI and BetRivers is seen as a strategic move to capitalize on Delaware’s regulated gaming environment and the exclusive position held by BetRivers.
